Wisconsin has done real work assembling this information. We put it on one map so you stop flipping between apps to answer a single question.
Public land and the Managed Forest Law parcels a landowner opened to the public — a great deal of the north, and almost none of it obvious from the road.
Mark the cut, the corner, the gate you park at. Every mark carries a date and a note, so you can see what a covert did three seasons running instead of trying to remember in August.
Where the state counted drumming males, mapped. A decent first guess at which block of young aspen is worth the walk.
Grouse hunting is some of the deepest bonding we get, so sharing came first rather than last. Put the two or three people you actually hunt with in a party and what you mark, they see.
The beer we haul up and vote on, the food, the running list of things worth arguing about after dark. It is part of our tradition — we would be glad if it became part of yours.
Grouse season is close to a religious experience for the four of us. We wanted something that met our grouse hunting tradition with precision and thought, so we built Upland Maps — and we would like to share it with the community we love.
