The important part
Upland Maps is a reference. It is not a legal determination of property boundaries, public access, or whether you may hunt anywhere.
Boundaries shown here are drawn from public data of varying age and accuracy. Some of the county and Forest Service sheets were printed in 2004. Ownership changes, Managed Forest Law enrolments open and close, county forest units are re-drawn, and the aerial imagery underneath may be several years old. Positions carry error, and map sheets laid over the aerial by hand carry more of it.
Before you hunt a piece of ground, confirm it against the Wisconsin DNR, the county forest office, or the landowner, and read the regulations in force for the season you are in. If a boundary matters, walk it. Trespass, and any consequence of it, is yours.
Use of the site
This site is provided for information. You may read it, link to it, and quote it with attribution. Do not scrape it wholesale, misrepresent it as your own, or use it to imply an endorsement that does not exist.
The application
The map application is not yet open to the public. When accounts open, using one will mean agreeing to a fuller set of terms published here. In outline: use it lawfully, do not attempt to break into it or into anyone else's account, do not upload anything you have no right to, and do not use it to help anyone trespass or poach.
Data and sources
Land, habitat, survey and parcel information comes from public agencies including the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, county land and forestry departments, and the USDA Forest Service. Aerial imagery and base maps come from third-party mapping providers. Those bodies are not affiliated with Upland Maps and do not endorse it. Their data remains theirs and is used subject to their own terms.
No warranty
The site and the application are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data. Availability is not guaranteed; this is a small operation and things go down.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Upland Maps is not liable for any loss, injury, citation, penalty or damage arising from use of the site, the application, or the data in them — including anything arising from relying on a boundary, an access designation, or a position shown here. You are responsible for your own safety and for hunting lawfully.
Safety
Cellular coverage in the northern counties is poor to absent. Do not set out on the assumption that a phone will be your only means of navigation, and tell someone where you are going.
